Angeborene Thrombozytopathien – Thrombasthenie Glanzmann

Abstract
Laboratory diagnostic analysis of platelet function disorders – thrombocytopathies – is generally performed at specialized hemostaseology centers. Using the case of a patient with Glanzmann thrombasthenia, the combined application of laboratory diagnostics at the Institute for Experimental Hematology and Transfusion Medicine of the University Hospital Bonn is presented; this includes Born aggregometry – a classic platelet function test – followed by flow cytometry and automated immunofluorescence microscopy of blood smears, culminating in molecular genetic analysis.
