Abstract
Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) occurs rarely in contrast to Alzheimer’s disease. It is estimated that only about 30,000 people in Germany suffer from FTD. In the course of the disease certain areas of the brain degenerate. The clinical picture is divided into 6 subtypes. In the most common variant, a change in personality is in the foreground, only later will cognitive limitations occur. Therefore, the disease is often confused with mental disorders. There are no medications to slow down or stop the progression of the disease.
