Abstract
Myocardial scintigraphy is a well-established and widely used diagnostic modality for coronary heart disease. The principle of the examination is based on the perfusion-dependent uptake of a radioactive tracer (radiopharmaceutical) in the myocardium, which is subsequently visualised in three dimensions as myocardial SPECT.
The indication for the examination is for patients with suspected CHD or chronic coronary syndrome, and a pre-test probability between 15 % and 85 %.
