Abstract
With the introduction of the MTBG (MT profession act), which came into force on 1 January 2023, clinical supervision was incorporated into MTR training for the first time. However, the legislation does not specify how this should be implemented in practice. To identify the expectations and needs of both trainees and clinical supervisors in the Department of Radiology at Münster University Hospital (UKM), interviews were conducted with three trainees and three clinical supervisors and subsequently analysed. The findings show that respondents particularly expect clinical supervision to be well structured, communicative and tailored to individual needs. Key requirements include continuous one-to-one supervision, sufficient time resources, clearly defined learning objectives, as well as opportunities for active participation and a positive culture of learning from mistakes. Furthermore, the role of the clinical supervisor as a link between the school-based and clinical components of training is emphasised. Based on these findings, specific recommendations for action are formulated to promote effective and motivating clinical supervision in radiology.
