Zusammenfassung

Weltweit sind schätzungsweise rund 2,9 Millionen Menschen von Multipler Sklerose (MS) betroffen, wobei allein in Deutschland rund 250.000 Erkrankte verzeichnet werden. Der Beitrag geht kurz auf die Grundlagen der Krankheit ein. Ausführlicher wird die bildgebende Diagnostik vorgestellt. Neben den Beispiel-Protokollen werden die Läsionen erläutert. Der Bezug zur McDonald-Klassifikation wird dargestellt, bevor kurz auf die Therapie eingegangen wird.

Abstract

Worldwide, an estimated 2.9 million people are affected by ­mul­tiple sclerosis (MS), with ca. 250,000 cases recorded in ­Germany alone. This article briefly discusses the basics of the disease. It then presents a more detailed overview of diagnostic imaging techniques. In addition to sample protocols, the lesions are ex­plained. The relationship to the McDonald classification is pre­sented. Finally the treatment options are briefly discussed.
